So I was sitting talking with my mom and dad about the holidays and boy, how the times have changed. My mom was getting choked up talking about my uncles and how much she misses my aunt. My dad was choked up on how he missed my grandma and my uncles and aunts...but he started crying when he got to us (kids). He said he wish that he could of done more and gave us better holidays growing up. He feels he failed as a dad and even though he doesnt have much, if we needed something, he would do whatever it takes. He thanked me for helping him with everything from medical bills, dr visits and other bills and errands, but feels to be a burden. Its when I started to cry and told him that my goal in life has never been to be famous or a millionaire, its always been to be able to provide for him and my mom as they did for me. They may have not had enough and boy was it tough growing up, but it was sufficient bc they raised me to be responsible and work hard. So when I bust my ass and work hella crazy hours, its to know my kids and parents will be taken care of. And one day I will be able to give them a lot more. It may sound cheesy, but the holidays to me are really about my family. We have loved and lost and we have had difficult times, but through it all we still stand together being able to thank God for another yr.
