So I was thinking on how I can warm up my place a little. People say Gas heaters are best but was thinking as follows. A gas heater rated at 4.2kw consumes 303 grams of gas per hour, making it 1 kilo of gas in 3 hours. Therefore a 12 kg gas cylinder (costing €18) will last 36 hours, making gas warming costing €2 per hour. On the contrary an electric heater of say 4kw, will consume 4 units of electricity per hour making it €0.52 (assuming the .13c if one exceeds the 2000 units annually) Are my calculations correct? Is it cheaper to heat by electricity rather than by gas. Not to mention that gas heaters release water molecules which raise humidity levels. I would like some feedback.
