So I watched Noah last night... Noah is probably the most - TopicsExpress

So I watched Noah last night... Noah is probably the most pro-vegan movie I have ever seen...even more so than say Forks over Knives...and thats not necessarily a bad thing. Noah is set in a Mad-Max like world, where there are little plants and lots of hungry people that eat animals and each other. A common theme that arises is choosing mercy or love over violence. I mean, on a common sense level, it makes sense to avoid a post-apocalyptic, desert-like world, and instead live in harmony with nature. My take is this goes far beyond just eating meat, and also includes war, imperialism, and capitalism at the expense of nature. The movie also brings up interesting discussions around power and personal responsibility. Just because you have the power to take someones life, dominate, or horde resources at the determent of others...does it make it right? Since we have a choice (free will), do we choose brother again brother (violence) or can we choose love? What I took from the movie, is that we can take responsibility, at the very least for our role in what goes on around us. If there is something that bothers me about the world or life... instead of pointing fingers at you, how can I improve what I am doing to make things better? The movie even covers creation in a way that scientists and creationists can appreciate (an evolution scene is shown while the days of creation from the Bible are read). Again, do we choose brother again brother, or love? If you are looking for a movie to rehash the old Bible story and stick to the Biblical script to a T, then you will not enjoy this movie and be sorely disappointed. My parents did not like it all. The watchers will definitely anger many purists. . I, however, found it insightful and thought-provoking. Noah does a great job of communicating pertinent modern issues without wading heavily in dogma or religious agenda...(aside from the admittedly in your face vegan bias). I was a little disappointed that there were no dinosaurs..but whatever. Recommended. #Noah
