So I watched The Awakening last night and I thought it was pretty fantastic! It was directed and co-written by Nick Murphy (Blood) and written by Stephen Volk (Gothic). I dont wanna talk about the plot to much because I dont wanna spoil anything but the story takes place in England post WWI and its about Florence Cathcart (Hall) who has made career of disproving ghosts, hauntings, and other supernatural events. So her new job is to investigate weather a Boys-Only Boarding School is haunted or not. The movie has a huge twist ending so thats all Im gonna say about the plot. The only criticism I have is Hempstead-Wrights performance was the weakest out of the cast. Overall, if you like classic Gothic Horror, I recommend this film.
