So I went to the surgeon today, and he says hell do my colon resection (or colostomy if need be) for free. He showed me my CAT scan, and man do I have a lot of big diverticuli. He also showed me that the wall of my upper colon is thickened and striated, which indicates either inflammation or cancer, and said he wouldnt want to do the surgery until I had a colonoscopy so hed know what he was in for. I told him that I had to cancel the colonoscopy because its state law that you cant drive home from one, even if you have it first thing in the morning and sit in the waiting room all day. He said hell find a way for me to get one, but said it cant happen for 4 months because I had another bout of diverticulitis. Unfortunately, that means 4 more months of eating off of the low residue diet. Ive decided that Im going to work under the assumption that the striation is due to inflammation from gluten, and, once I finish all the bread and pasta in the house, am going to go back on a gluten-free diet. This is going to be a pain in the ass. But on the plus side, I told my sister that the thickened striated colon wall looked like a strip of marbled meat, so I guess that means itll taste good. Chianti anyone?
