So, I work for the State of Pennsylvania... Department of Public Welfare... Pay is not what even close to Industry levels for IT, but insurance is great and job security is supposedly good.... I travel 90 minutes each way every day... In their infinite wisdom, I am not allowed to telecommute... But I digress... Some of you remember my trip to the ER in Pittsburgh where I ended up spending a couple days in the hospital... Well, I just got the bill after my great benefits insurance paid their portion. They paid $2,500. MY PORTION IS $ 11,295.75. So a couple of nights and a couple anti-biotics and a couple of shots of Morphine was nearly $14,000. This is the first problem. The second problem is that they didnt cover the entire amount because I had my emergency Out-of-network. Really? I will have to get a list of Hospitals I can have an emergency near... And while the healthcare industry needed attention, OBAMACARE IS NOT THE ANSWER!!! ********** UPDATE ************* Called the insurance company and it was approved... They told me to disregard the bill.... Christmas is back on, kids...
