So, Im being like - kind of serious about this. Whats the big deal about property rights? I dont mean like the difference between governing styles, but literally what is it that is so important about owning things beyond basic needs? Arguments for could include security and savings as well as ease of conveyance of socioeconomic class. Arguments against generally include nearly contrived scarcity in the name of economy and uncontrolled wealth accumulation. Mostly, why is it wrong to steal? Also, what is stealing? We take an apple from a tree, we take litter off the ground, we take a book from barnes and nobles, we take a few quarters out of the wishing well, we steal food when we have none to eat. How did we come about deciding where the line is on stealing and, thinking abstractly and vaccuumatically (totally a word), how absolute is this line and what would happen if possession become ten tenths of the law? (I you intend to discuss, please assume all basic needs are taken care of - no provide for my family stuff, as a favor to me, for the sake of semi-rhetorical argument).
