So Im cleaning up my computer and when I transferred old word - TopicsExpress

So Im cleaning up my computer and when I transferred old word files to the new one, I had one that said Homework from my oldest. Shes writing essays for colleges now and I got choked up reading one she wrote when she was in 6th grade. Ill never delete this. Way Back When Hot sand sliding between my toes, The sizzling sun beating down on my face and shoulders. “Ill give you $20.00 if you can catch one of those seagulls”, my dad said as a smile carved into the sides of his face. I could see the seagulls just resting there. It looked easy! When I slowly started to crawl closer, they started to walk away, almost like they had rearview mirrors. Then, before they could escape, I picked up my speed! Changing directions like a speedometer in a traffic jam. They were all too swift! How did they know I was coming? I was exhausted! I slowly started to trek back to our beach chairs. I could smell the hotdogs grilling, I could feel the bright sun beating down on me as I placed my hand over my eyes to keep it from blinding me. I heard the waves crashing and slowly wetting the sand underneath. I saw bright, vivid towels, bright umbrellas and bright chairs. I took one more big gasp of air to catch my breath. My lungs filled to the point where I couldn’t fit anymore in, and then it just spilled out. My dad looked at me with open arms. I gave him a big hug. “You’ll catch one someday.” He hugged me even tighter. Ill always remember spending time with him. He handed me an ice cold pop with water racing down the sides and I brought it to my lips and the carbonated soda swam down my throat, leaving me with a feeling of satisfaction. There’s not a day that goes by, that my dad doesn’t tell me, how much he loves me. And days like this I remember the most. “I love you with all my heart,” he whispered. Time seemed to stop right where it was. And the puffy white clouds sailed by slowly over our heads. Catching seagulls didn’t seem so important anymore. Madison Wagberg Hour-1
