So Im curious about one thing. As Im trying to develop my understanding of vegan philosophy, Ive been pondering upon where one draws the line, as to moral permissability of harmful actions towards other living beings. And by that I mean, while we can obviously agree that a Cow, Chicken or many other common western animals we eat(as in our society) are thinking beings with emotions and moral values, some societies eat other more primitive animals, like beetles, spiders and so on. So, does a single neuron existing in an organism mean that its wrong to touch it? or how many do they need to have, for us to consider them morally relevant beings? We forexample do tests on nematodes with around 8 or so neurons in labs.
