So. Im marking letters to the editor that some of my students wrote. A 15 year old refugee boy wrote the following as the conclusion to his. Hes from Afghanistan. Sometimes I get sick of teaching. And then I remember I have one of the most rewarding and most important jobs in the world. I pray to God that he never, ever give anyone the pain that the asylum seekers are going through every day. The pain of losing their warrior, the protector of the family, their dad. The pain of losing the heart of the house, their mum. The pain of losing the smile of their house, their little brother who is still learning how to speak his brothers name, how to say mummy, daddy. How to grab his parents hand and walk outside and see the world. Waiting at doorsteps for his brother to come home and play with him. Finally, the pain of losing the angel, the guardian of the house, their sister. There are thousands of people who go through these things every day and yet respect others. They hate their life but always remember what their fearless, inspirational and loving person called mum said while they were saying goodbye... Get out of this place son and go far, far away so that nobody could hurt you and take care of yourself. Dont worry about me, Im always with you. I miss you mum.
