So Im not one to get super nerdy about yoga anatomy often, but this video put things so plainly that I have been trying to find ways to verbalize myself, that I just had to share. I have the great pleasure (and torment) of trying to juxtapose the differences in my yoga training and acrobatics training and to find balance between the two. I find it challenging to explain to experienced and knowledgeable yoga students why I teach arm balances and inversions so differently than a lot of local yoga teachers. My acrobatics and AcroYoga training have taught me similar views on how the shoulder girdle supports us in weight bearing asanas for lifelong healthy shoulders. If you are a teacher or student that practices handstand, downdog, or other weight bearing poses with shoulders pulling away from ears or with shoulder blades squeezing together check this out
