So Im obviously overjoyed with this, not only due to my obsession with RuPauls Drag Race overall, but because these are some of my favourite queens. In addition, however, it has really struck me how interesting this is from the perspective of what AA are trying to achieve with their brand image. Sure, the fledgling company are trying to capitalise on the success of RPDR (seriously, when was the last time you shopped at AA), but this seems to me like quite a clever attempt to maintain the LA-style raunchiness of their past campaigns, but to (at least try to) avoid their misogyny. In other words, AA still wants girls writhing around in leotards, so lets let a load of boys do it instead. With reference to the other men in the video, its also quite a fun hark back at that viral article with boys posing like AA models - the conceit being that it was ridiculous - in aid of, I think, to stop the female models being photographed in such a manner (a valiant cause, of course, no complaints!). However, I do think its rather fun that in response AA just went fine, we *will* have a bunch of boys pose like this, naughty socks and all. Anyway, if you guys have any more thoughts Id love to hear them. youtube/watch?v=1mhNedNUAa4&src_vid=40q9VucFVZM&feature=iv&annotation_id=annotation_2029940419
