So, Im over the controversial decision from last night. Ive seen the official score cards and all sorts of justification as to why GSP won the fight. The only thing that needs to be better understood/explained is the scoring system in a MMA fight. How many strikes become null and void after a take down is successfully completed? (It seems like if you get punched or kicked repeatedly in a round, but take your opponent down, you win that round...which is retarded!) How many strikes become null and void after a submission ATTEMPT? Why is so much credit awarded to a fighter for a take down? MMA has an abundance of wrestlers, jujitsu black belts and submission experts. If your game plan is to get the fight to the ground one way or another, and you CHOOSE to let your opponent take you down in a situation, how much as far as scoring is concerned are you sacrificing by doing so?? If there is emphasis put on submission and take down ATTEMPTS, why the hell is there no emphasis put on physical DAMAGE INFLICTED on your opponent??? Sure some guys bruise and mark easier than others (myself included), but to me at the end of a fight, if one guys face looks like hamburger, and the others looks like he hasnt even been hit, the guy who looks like hamburger lost the fight..mon sense.
