So Im watching Back to the Future...and I had an interesting thought that shattered my understanding and the possibility of time travel in this movie. Bare with me here... lol The time traveling ability that the time machine in BTTF had is fundamentally flawed methinks. o_o If time travel were possible...that would only allow for us to be able to travel through time, not space. And in the film..it works perfectly because Marty McFly travels back to a time period in his home town. So he gets to see the same place, just in a different time period. But...lets say I had a time machine...and I decided to go back in time 10 years from today. I would be able to travel back to that time period...but where I would physically BE would not be the same place. With the rotation of the Earth and how its set within our solar system, or order to safely travel back to a specific time and place...wed have to have some serious calculations on where the position of the Earth would be at that exact moment in time we wanted to travel to and wed need to be able to travel through time AND space...not just time. Otherwise wed travel back in time...but the position of the Earth would be in a completely different area all together. o_O The Earth revolves around the Sun, which revolves within the Milky Way...which moves in its own orbit in space...so on and so forth o_o Im sure there would be some kind of formula to be able to calculate that...but...you wouldnt be able to just hop in a Delorean and just go back to 1955 so easily :P Mind = blown.
