So Im watching one of the (many) Stephen Colbert vs. Neil deGrasse - TopicsExpress

So Im watching one of the (many) Stephen Colbert vs. Neil deGrasse Tyson interviews and came across this comment, and instantly knew I had to share it (warning: its an hour and a half long) Our academic system rewards people who know a lot of stuff, and generally we call those people smart. But at the end of the day, who do you want? The person who can figure stuff out that theyve never seen before, or the person who can rattle off a bunch of facts? At the end of the day, I want the person that can figure stuff out. And for those of you still in school: I have a news flash for you. When I do interviews with candidate employees, Im not looking to see if you can answer every question correctly. Im looking to see how you think, and whether or not you can solve a problem. It turns out that we have this really cool tool called Google, and no matter how many languages or APIs youve memorized, Google is still better at looking them up than you are. But Google hasnt made self-replicating code. Yet. https://youtube/watch?v=7BHQIasisqY
