So Important to Me . . . LINKS: What is LINKS? LINKS is a peer to peer program for students at Okemos High School. Students on the Autism Spectrum benefit from being paired up with a friend and mentor in the building. Students enrolled as the mentors (LINKS) benefit from learning about Autism Spectrum Disorder and serving in a leadership role. All students involved benefit from making more positive connections with peers in the building. This is an elective course that can be taken multiple times for credit. Why it Matters to ME . . . My oldest son, James, is on the spectrum. He did not have a program like this. He was often bullied, made the butt of jokes, and felt alone. My younger son, Alex, recognizing the pain his brother has experienced, joined LINKS as an Okemos High School Freshman (the only Freshman) so no other child would have to be alone. What Im Asking for LINKS . . . Alex is selling Thirty-One bags as a fundraiser. Thirteen dollars of the price of each bag goes to support LINKS. The students are selling The Zip Top Tote (with the choice of monogramming.) Here is a link to the product: thirtyonegifts/catalog/product/317/catid/37/swid/081a/deluxe-utility-tote-in-bubble-bloom/ If you would like a high quality tote while supporting Okemos Links, please let me know -- there are many colors, fonts and designs to choose from. Orders due January 9th.
