So Ive got big plans in the works. Plans that Ive been putting off sharing because it seems like every time I share something, it ends up not happening. However, these plans require your help. In January of 2015, I am planning on going to New York to attend school for 6 months. It will be hard to be away from my family, but its something I need to do to fill in some of the gaps in my makeup and effects skills. Heres what I need from you: 1. Any recommended scholarships that could help me pay for school (and room and board). 2. A place to crash for a couple of weeks before school starts to look for work and a place to live. (New York peeps have any ideas? Jae Zotherpage, Kerry Watterson, Brenda Kuciemba, Todd Anderson) 3. Also need my NY peeps to keep an eye out for folks needing a roommate from January to July. Soho preferred, but will look at the surrounding areas. Please no further North than the Southern edge of Central Park. $1,200/month or less (I know Im pushing it). 4. Film folks! If you know anyone in NY needing makeup or special effects work, please let me know so I can start networking. Also looking for networking groups and job postings similar to ShortFilmTexas and DFC here in Dallas. 5. Hoping to find a weekend bartending job while Im there (again, near Soho). If anyone knows anyone who may have an opening, Id appreciate it. 6. Dallas folks, Ill need you to support John in temporary single-dad mode while Im gone. I know he can handle two teenagers and a household on his own, but he may need someone to listen while he cusses me out for leaving him alone for so long. ;) I guess thats it for now. Gonna do everything in my power to make this happen and come back with a renewed sense of confidence. Wish me luck!
