So, Ive heard a lot of back and forth from atheists about Noah, the new movie from Aronofsky, who is reputed to be atheist . . . why would he make a movie about a bible story? And I had come to the conclusion that I had no interest in watching yet another re-telling of the obviously false myth. But then I read this article, which almost makes it sound as though he is luring xtians into the theatres to thumb his nose at them . . . I might check it out after all. This, especially, sounds interesting: Perhaps the most deeply moving sequence in the film is when Noah retells the creation story to his family, and Aronofsky uses his trademark psychedelic visual style to illustrate it with the Big Bang, followed by the formation of the Sun, Earth and Moon (yep, a planet-sized body hits the Earth and makes the Moon). Then we watch as plants and animals evolve — Aronofsky even adds a subversive line about giant animals that no longer exist, as we see dinosaurs. Finally, monkeys swing down from the trees and enter Eden. io9/noah-is-the-best-and-worst-bible-movie-youll-ever-see-1553829598?utm_campaign=socialflow_io9_facebook&utm_source=io9_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow
