So, I’ve been asking my family and friends to pray for Deb and her teammates on their journey to a state title. I know it’s just a game, but when you are part of a true team, it isn’t about the game….it is so much more. Most of these girls have played together since grade school. The sacrifices they have made to be there for each other are many. They understand what it means to be a TEAM….they never give up on each other. Well, considering all my family and friends have contributed to this team with their positive thoughts and prayers, I thought you should know each one of them. They will be taking on Merrimack Valley tomorrow at noon at SNHU for the state title. WORK HARD – NEVER DIE! Meet....THE LADY BEARS: Abby Ahern: Ive seen her grow from a wonderful 4th grade athlete on the STORM team to a highly gifted player for CBNA (still plays for STORM, too:-). I believe she has the best offensive moves under the basket in Division II. She isnt tall, so she relies on her spin moves and pivots to make her shots.....and she does it to perfection. Haley Ruth: Quiet and deadly has many meanings, but Haley brings it to a new level. Her poise and calm personality is the voice of reason on the team. Her unselfish play, with wonderful passing and ball control is one of the key reasons the team has been successful this year. Sarah Curtin: She also has a calm demeanor, but isnt afraid to scrap on the floor for a ball. She has quick feet on defense and has an incredible 3 point shot. Sarah can play a guard and play a forward.......Jack of all trades, she does it all! Deb Peabody: As one of her coaches said, You can take the girl out of Farmington, but not Farmington out of the girl. I told the coach that I considered that a compliment and he said, It was a compliment. :-) Deb isnt afraid to go toe to toe with people a foot taller.....or a foot wider. Her attitude prevents her from ever backing down (that attitude will be the death of me:-). Thank goodness she is now realizing that she also can be an offensive threat.......WORK HARD - NEVER DIE! Jenny Schlim: An offensive treat X 100. She can shoot the 3 and she can make a move inside. They wont be able to stop her. Shes firing on all cylinders and I look forward to seeing what shes going to do to MV. Ive had to guard her and Ive had her guard me.....she may be slender, but she didnt have any problems pushing my BIG body around. She is STRONG! :-) I pity the fool that tries to stop her! hahahah Ashley Leblanc: Ashleys 3 pointer the other night was probably the biggest shot of the night in the Semi-Finals. She broke the ice and brought us back in the game. She is definitely an offensive threat. Ashley is also the voice of reason. She has a great basketball mind! I wouldnt be surprised if the coaches ask her for advice once in awhile. Sydney Fisher: Tenacious, hard-working, sharp-shooting Sophomore! Shes added some spunk to this years team. She isnt afraid to mix it up with those girls that are 20-40 pounds heavier than her, either. Shell dive on the floor, risking her body to get the ball (I LOVE THAT!) Ashley Reiff: What a sweety! I have seen such incredible improvement in Ashley this year. She has quick hands, too! She knows to keep the ball high, she pivots well and has a sweet shot. WOW! I am very excited to see her develop over the next couple of years. I foresee GREAT things. What a great addition to this team! Chloe Bettencourt: Feisty and Fast......lethal combination. Not only does she play great defense, but she can shoot the 3, too. She is an unselfish player that can make her teammates look very good with her great passing. CBNA is fortunate to have someone like Chloe on the team. Christina Mitchell: Christina is also a fast girl. She is truly a dedicated athlete and is always working on her game. She likes to hustle all over the court and isnt afraid to sacrifice her body to dive for a ball. When her feet are set and she lets the ball fly, rarely does she miss. Catie Langdon: Take a look at Caties arms sometime. She is STRONG! Shes the type I wouldnt want to mess with, thats for sure. If there is a fight for a ball, my money is on Catie. Defensively, she has quick hands and loves to go for the steal. Offensively, she has developed a wonderful shot! Shannon Riley: Shannon is also an extremely versatile player. She can play point and she can play underneath. She knows how to push the ball up the court, but she also knows how to slow it up and run a controlled offense. AND.....yes, she can shoot the 3! Look for great things from this girl. Chelsea McCallion: Chelsea is the epitome of the word hustle. I get tired just watching her out there. Her quick hands lead to many steals and many of her steals turn into fast breaks for her team. She also has a quick first step on offense, which leads to many uncontested layups. So, that’s the TEAM. Each one of them, whether they are the top scorer, top defender, top assist maker, a role player or whatever…..they all contribute to the success of this team. It is truly because of their unselfish team play and positive attitudes, that they have had the success that they have. I truly admire and love these girls. Please join me and send them prayers and positive thoughts for their game tomorrow. God bless! BTW…..if you want to come to the game tomorrow, it is a noontime at SNHU. Wear red, come early and prepare to be loud!
