So...Kill La Kill is now ended and I am back to square one (For now anyways...saw an OVA preview...dunno what to make of that). Now, I would love to review this anime, but I cant do half a good a job as Keron Joseph, but Ill do a readers digest version if you will. Kill La Kill actually started of as a manga with focus on action over character development, before being adapted into this wonderful anime done by some former employees from Studios Gainax (Neon Genesis Evangelion) and Studio 4o C (American animation projects, namely Thundercats 2011 and Transformers animated) as well as the folks who bought us Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (aka too awesome to describe). Said new studio is called Studio Trigger. Definitely an eyebrow raiser, Kill la Kill certainly shows what an All Your Powers Combined can do. Plot is simple enough at first. It looks like a My Name is Inigo Montaya, You Killed My Father, Prepare to Die but as any sharp eyed anime viewer would see, its more than that, and as time goes on, surprises still await at every corner and the scope gets even bigger. What makes this most impressive to me is the setting, so unique it is, by episode 11 I am no longer surprised or facepalming when a tank covered in meat offers its users more protection than...well an ordinary tank. Action sequences and fights are simple in their animation, so much so its not even a bother, actually coming across as either hilarious or awesome...and even both in most cases (what else should we expect from the folks behind TTGL) pretty much the same thing that made Transformers Animated a success. Every moment just oozes with what the overall theme of this anime is: which is the power of True Companions. Sure there are tons of other anime/manga that do this (One Piece, Fairy Tail etc etc) but doing it from the POVs of strong female characters (Protagonist Ryuko and Deuteragonist Satsuki) with no Shipping whatsoever is truly a remarkable feat (The only couple onboard, as far as Im concerned is Ryuko and Senketsu...anybody saying otherwise are only fooling themselves) Im going to have to say that Kill La Kill is one of the best new anime out for quite sometime, the mere fact that it has concluded successfully only adds to that. Im not going out to give a rating out of 10 though, but a simple A shall suffice. Indeed, I shall be looking forward to more outstanding work from Studio Trigger
