So Kyle just hasnt been Kyle. Hes drooling like a water fountain, not standing up or sitting up, no balance, lethargic, not eating great, super sleepy and just not our Kyle. SInce hes had some grouchy issues we have called his neuro team over the past month and they have just increased his meds over and over again. Weve questioned them along the way but they just keep saying hes growing and needs the increase. So as per dr orders we followed everything they said. Well, yesterday Kyle collapsed at school, TWICE and I could barely get him off the bus. Something was wrong so we took him to the Childrens Hospital where they ran ever test from urine to CT scans and even a shunt study. Thankfully everything came back as a clean bill of health except his blood work. They just said he was probably on too many meds like his neuro said (the neuro called on our way to the ER and explained this could all be from too many meds...something we were telling them all along) This morning I get a call telling us Kyles meds have made him toxic. The meds were slowing down his heart and blood pressure that couldve put him in cardiac arrest. Nice news to get when youve been telling them we thought he was over medicated. So now we are on a new program of meds and I will be calling daily until I get Kyles meds where they need to be. So as a learning lesson to us, QUESTION EVERYTHING! I will question doctors until Im blue in the face from here on out. Then I will question them again and question the pharmacy. Even the pharmacy awhile back asked if the meds were working for him and asked his weight and to follow these exactly as stated. I thought it was strange they asked now I wonder if they thought it was a lot. Scary! Just scary to think something worse couldve happened. Thank GOD he has a few guardian angels up there keeping on eye on him. Ya know you go to a doctor and follow what they say and build a trust in them to help you take care of your child not try to kill them. I swear Kyle was born with 9 lives! Thank goodness! It was a long night in the ER but thank god for mothers intuition because something inside was just telling me to go to the ER! Never question a Mom! :) Thanks for everyones support and love for we would never get through some of these days and long nights without ya! XO
