So Mi Mi decides that since I have my brace off that we should ride our bikes today. I figured it would be good exercise and provide some knee therapy, so I agreed. Off we went to the park, Mi Mi on her little bike with training wheels and me on my mountain bike. I stayed behind her in order to coach her in proper riding and safety procedures, which she did well with. As we neared the park I called out for her to pedal as fast as she could so we would have enough speed to make it up the ramped walkway and through the partially closed wrought iron gate (hold that thought in your mind for a moment). We both picked up a considerable amount of speed and aimed for the middle of the half open gate. Just as she made it through the gate, with me close behind, she suddenly slammed on her brakes, pointed, and yelled, oh look! Squirrel! At which time I veered left to keep from running into her. Did you know that wrought iron can bring a bike traveling at 10 mph to a sudden and unforgiving stop? Thanks Mi Mi, because of you I have found a new bike rack.
