So Monica Nelson & the Highgates just signed a contract to put out a single with Voodoo Doughnut Recordings and we are super duper excited about that! Weve been working hard, we have one E.P. out on compact disc as well as having a song included on that awesome comp ANARCHY IN LITTLE BEIRUT and are in the middle of working on another CD EP. Yesterday we were walking around downtown on cloud 9 then sat down for a band meeting.. Whats on my mind today is appreciation for everyone, specifically our families because a bands ability to not only function but flourish and to be able to enjoy the process has not only to do with those within the band but their families as well. Ive met more than a few musicians who have not had supportive spouses, their families have made it harder for them to operate and pressured them to give it up and that causes a lot of stress on a musician even if its what you love to do and you feel it is your calling in life the stress of that familial pressure takes a toll. Ive know more than a few very talented people who have had to walk away from creating/playing music completely because of that pressure, I myself have always had a supportive family when it comes to what I do, always, and and this band I sing for has THE most supportive families I myself have ever seen, it is truly a blessing and I think I can safely say we all know how supportive our families and loved ones are of us and appreciate this support and encouragement to no end and so anything good that happens to us and will happen to us, a big part of that recipe has to do not only with our own good attitudes and whatevers but has a lot to do with our beloved families who have always been for us. Always in the back of our minds I think it makes us want to work that much harder and with that much more passion, we know how much we are loved and respected by our close ones and we love you back thats all!
