So. More adventures today. I was outside weeding and the girls were all just roaming and pecking quietly when, all of a sudden, it sounded like a chicken bomb went off! The girls were all clucking VERY loudly and VERY repeatedly. All but two of them had completely crossed the yard and huddled next to Beau (the giant dog). Well, Lucy and Amelia were over, at the edge of the fence where the weeds are overgrown, peering very inquisitively into the weeds. I ran over and shooed them away as there was CLEARLY something moving in the weeds. Turned out to be a 4 foot (at least) black snake. Great. A chicken eater. Needless to say, we were ALL on pins and needles the rest of the day. The area has been weeded and no sign of the snake again... Now, if Lucy and Amelia can not be SO DAMN STUPID, things might be okay. Sooooooooo glad their coop is like Ft. Knox ;)
