So Much To Do A very happy new year and can I wish you good health and that all your hopes will be realised in 2015. My resolve for the New Year is to continue concentrating on raising incomes locally by supporting education and the attainment of skills, improving our physical and digital connectivity, and campaigning for decent housing that local people can afford to buy or rent. So I will be: • Prioritising support for locally owned businesses that plough their profits back into the local economy • Supporting higher skilled year-round employment • Opposing the Conservative Party’s plans for regional pay It would be great if we could all join forces to work towards a Living Wage, guaranteed above inflation pension rises, and housing developments that meet local needs, but this will require a Tory free Government, a new elected Mayor and a new set of Councillors with a different set of priorities. I also hope the following will be realised over the coming year: 1. That the Tories respond to the will of the House of Commons and allow the Affordable Homes Bill, introduced by Lib Dem MP Andrew George and co-sponsored by myself, the means to proceed through Parliament and remove the worst excesses of the Bedroom Tax. 2. That the new set of global Millennium Development Goals not just continue to get more children into education, but work to achieve specific targets for gender and disability. 3. That all countries will take climate change more seriously. There’s a great deal more, and if youve read my past posts you will know theres much much more I will be working to achieve, but for the moment I’ll settle for an end to world poverty, cruelty to animals and people, and the securing of world peace. Want to help me? Just get in touch. All the very best for 2015 Adrian
