So. My journey tonight started with this article: fav.me/d8bwx6s . It encourages artists to create art for good causes and to seek to change the world and make it a better place. In the end of the article, the author asks readers about events from history that were influenced by art and he mentions the fall of the Berlin Wall. So with the little I know about this great event, i decided to research what happened that had to do with art. Thats when I found this - an article that talks about what common people did. People who werent necessarily politicians, yet played roles in political events. Music was an art form used as a political power in this historic event. Just like the previous article I had read, this one begs the question of how is music and art today being made in more than a form of mere entertainment. I thought it was very interesting. I know that art, including music, has shaped my life and has been a part of me, but what has been recently done to promote change in the world? I know theres stuff out there, and of course I have examples from art classes, but Id like to hear more thoughts on this subject, from both artists and those who dont consider themselves artists.
