So NBA great Spencer Haywood takes the time to drop knowledge on - TopicsExpress

So NBA great Spencer Haywood takes the time to drop knowledge on America: And before I highlight an insightful quote from Haywood, two issues comes to mind: 1- Given that media reports have Andrew Wiggins coming out early to enter the NBA Draft, questions becomes, did Wiggins read this column, given that Haywood breaks down his game? 2 - As we all get older, hopefully we all learn, just because you can, doesnt mean you should. And even though I believe that all 18 year old young men should legally be able to enter the workplace, even when the workplace is the NBA, top prospects in b-ball and football should stay 3 years in college, get that degree and then bounce. What does it matter if you leave school early, make 10s of millions of dollars, but end up being part of this stat - within 5 years of NBA retirement, the majority of players are broke. # A I left school early - broke. Patrick Ewing, who graduated with a degree from the same school that A I left early from - not so much. I dare say, w/o having any proof, those NBA players who receive their degrees, are far less likely to go broke than those who chased the short money. # # I didnt forget:) Mr Haywoods quote - If you look at the current generation of players from Kevin Garnett to Kobe Bryant to Dwight Howard, only one player was able to make an immediate impact right out of High School - Leron James. # # # That Mr Haywood is a vey insightful man:)
