So Preneetha Balachander has come up with the #MovieBuffChallenge - TopicsExpress

So Preneetha Balachander has come up with the #MovieBuffChallenge and Im jobless enough to go through the rigorous routine of racking my brain to try and come up with another list and impose the same obligation on other people as well, in the span of less than 12 hours. Ill try to stick with just 10 great movies that Ive watched, since the list is going to be incessant if I try to not restrict myself to a number. Also, Ill try to cover different genres/languages. In no particular order: 1. The Fight Club. What a brilliant movie! David Fincher with an absolute stunner of a plot. Ive never stopped marveling at his amazing versatility and prowess in this field, and I doubt that I ever will. 2. Inception. People who know me well enough know of my obsession with this movie. A completely breathtaking work of fiction, I can watch this movie 6 times straight and still love it more than I already do. 3. L.A. Confidential. Talk about an insane plot, and youll find yourself talking about this movie. Curtis Hanson delivers like a boss, and Kevin Spacey, Guy Pearce and Russell Crowe playing roles that deserve a theatre of applause. 4. Twelve Angry Men. Classic. Need I say more? 5. Prometheus. Moving to movies that arent unanimously liked by people. I wonder why many find it difficult to love this movie. It has all that one needs in a film, the twists, the startling suddenness of things, the production value, and the ambiguity. One of Ridley Scotts best. 6. Good Will Hunting. The writing, the stagecraft, the laughs and the tears. This movie has it all. Emotive, yet intellectual, dont tell me that your heart leapt out to seek comfort in Robin Williams embrace towards the end of the movie. 7. Pizza. I had huuuuge fun watching this movie. Tamil cinema needs more movies like this one. A special mention to Santhosh Narayanans Mogathirai as well. 8. Server Sundaram. I dont remember much of this movie, but I do remember that it was one of the first movies that I shed a tear for. I still wonder whether instances like these were the ones that made me the half-sensitive person that I am today. 9. Oldboy. Paraphrasing one of my friends, one of the sickest twists ever placed in a movie. Brave, shocking and well done, this movie definitely deserves a place in this list. 10. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. I like this movie. Yes, I do. I like the way the movie is done, and it carries some kind of special significance to me, for some reason. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy deserve a special mention. And its 10 already? Cannot able to believe. I hope that the people that I nominate for this challenge dont repeat any of the movies that Ive mentioned, since there are so so many more good movies out there. The movie buffs that I want to make a list of 10 great movies that theyve watched are: Nikhil Gandhi(Obvious choice) Mithilesh Hari Naveen Muthusamy Ram Prakash Sharat R Babu Nithya Palaniyappan Shubhankar Uchil Jithin Bas(How can I not nominate you for this?)
