So Shawn Stoehr challenged me to post 5 of my favorite horse images from 2014; that isnt as easy as it sounds because 2014 was an awesome year for me when it came to photography. I went through some images and picked the ones that I feel are special for different reasons and my favorites. 1) SWB in October, out with friends, weekend trip, early in the morning with great light and two ornery boys having a great time! Special because it was a weekend trip (not my normal 1 day adventure) and we met Shawn who shared with us what brought him to SWB and why the horses are special for him. 2) Red Desert Wild Horses, I love the wildness of these horses, there is nothing tame or predictable about them. And it was an awesome 4 day camping adventure with Angelique Rea full of sharing our love of horses, wildlife and photography! 3) McCullough Peaks Wild Horses, Ive loved this stallion since the first day I met him a couple years ago. He is proof of what these horses must endure to survive. Hes crippled, most likely an injury from a fight with a rival stallion that will never heal, but he has survived. I cry every time I see him, it looks painful and he struggles to get around. This was also an adventure (literally) with old friends and new (Kristen, Dawn & Ric) that challenged me and some of my fears; and I survived. And had a blast getting through it! 4) Reno, my old man, 26 years old now. He can be mean as snot, puts ornery horses to shame and a jokester like no other. But when I needed him most he reminded me why I have kept him since years before he was even born. 5) Blueper, my hero and my best friend. I dont know what Id do without him. Now Im challenging Angelique Rea, Beverly Shaffer, Megan Jones, Kriszta Fecske, Lona Patton and her daughter Mariah, Melba Coleman, Kristen Thomsen, Dawn Traverse and Liz Jordahl
