So Simple - So Profound - So Everything One of my favorite hymns of all time is also one of the greatest messages of all time Written by a little lady whose hearts desire was to serve as a missionary. Born in England in 1850, Louisa M.R. Stead came to U.S. and really got focused toward missions but her health failed her. Then she was married and then she lost her husband. Then she and her young daughter, Lilly, tried again in South Africa. There, in 1882, she wrote these words: ’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, And to take Him at His Word; Just to rest upon His promise, And to know, “Thus says the Lord!” Refrain Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him! How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! O for grace to trust Him more! O how sweet to trust in Jesus, Just to trust His cleansing blood; And in simple faith to plunge me ’Neath the healing, cleansing flood! Refrain Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus, Just from sin and self to cease; Just from Jesus simply taking Life and rest, and joy and peace. Refrain I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee, Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend; And I know that Thou art with me, Wilt be with me to the end. Refrain Sweeter by the day - I am so glad I learned to trust Him Each day brings its set of circumstances but I / we know He will be with me / us - to the end and there is no end with Jesus Hes our happily now and ever after in Christ.
