I also think its win-win - the reciprocal benefit to SoundCloud is that they finally have a sustainable and expandable business model: Keeping the lights on in a place that went from 300k users to 300million users in 3 years meant that often the lights went off; plus catering for all those new listener-users caused a huge development focus on listener experience at the expense of creator experience.
