So . . . THE HIDDEN LIBRARY goes out to beta readers today. I am, as you can imagine, appropriately nauseous already at the thought of it. Fun author fact: releasing books never gets easier, and if anything, I only want all the more wine and cupcakes once I send a story out to be read by people who are not me for the first time. Heres what I can tell you all about THL so far: this book was emotionally exhausting to write. Theres so much happening. So much emotion, both highs and lows. So much adventure, so much mystery. Still waters run deep is a phrase I need you guys to embrace when it come to Finn and Alice. But I love it. I love these characters. I cried at points and laughed and other times stressed the hell out of myself--which only made my husband laugh. You know how it ends, hed say. And still it never made it easier to write through it, because . . . this is a fairy tale, after all. And we all know that fairy tales arent the easiest, right? I want to share a song with you today that is my current music obsession. This song, guys. THIS SONG. This song is so the Van Brunt brothers, and I am so thrilled you get to know them better in THL. I might have cried a bit listening to this song while typing, thinking of what it would mean to them. And then I tracked down the video and bawled some more, because a) its genuinely touching, and b) and eerily fits with some scenes. How did Bears Den know? LOL February 26th is so soon.
