So. Thanks to the Amazing Emmy - we have shifted and semi-sorted about 150 cubic feet of piles. Still have to finish the pile on the bed - but it is started. A total so far of ten contractor garbage bags. Turned in 8 bags of donations yesterday. I have three more started in the room and half full - and we have about 6 loads of laundry to be done and most of that being donated too. My poor room. It was the last holdout of the big purge - we did the other half of the room (sorta) though we still have more purges and reorgs to finish the job. The end goal is to completely clear out my side of the room and install an entire wall of shelving and hanging space, to make up for the fact that I just need more closet space since I use the bedroom as my main workspace, especially while dealing with the disability issue. Those bags you see there are either trash (black bags) or a combo of retaining/donating (blue ikea bags). But I have pretty much met my goal so far of keeping only 1/3 of the mass. And I will be able to purge further in the weeks to come of the items retained. A good start. I suspect it is still going to need another three intensive weeks of focus to completely clear the space as I still have another 250 cubic feet of stuff to go through. I keep imaging the guys from Storage Wars find a unit filled like my room. And salivating and cringing all at the same time. And yes - we found both money and jewelry over the last five days - so it was a truly successful dig. ;)
