So. The typhoon that hit southern china delayed my initial flight out which meant Id miss my subsequent flights. I didnt care, really, theyd get me home one way or another. In Guangzhou I sat for about three hours waiting for my flight with a woman from Uganda and we talked of life and the politics and economics of every country I could think of. In Beijing I met a woman who was returning from her year long teaching position in Japan, we talked for a good hour at least too. I think well become good friends. Then on the way to LA, I sat next to a man from Greece, and again, we talked stocks and housing markets, healthcare and life and socialism and capitalism and communism and everything we could think of on that 13 hour flight. This is why I love to travel--you get to meet travelers and travelers are better than books and movies. And you know what? My flight itinerary had me fly from LA to Vegas BACK to LA and THEN to Dallas. I didnt even notice. The only flight I missed with the weather delay was that silly extraneous flight anyway. This is why you should #thinkpositive and not let situations you cant control control you. Im home, Im not the same.
