So Theon is considered a turncloak for his betrayal of the Starks. - TopicsExpress

So Theon is considered a turncloak for his betrayal of the Starks. But what if things were different and he betrayed his own House? He would still had been a turncloak then. Also consider that arguably the most important thing in Westeros is family. Theon is a Greyjoy, a member of Ironborn culture, not a Northern. Hes to inherit the Iron Islands, no lands in the North. Had he stayed with Robb what would he got then? Robb made it clear Theon wasnt a Stark. Had the Northmen been successful what does Theon get? Disowned by his his own blood and culture, no lands in the North because come on, Robb wouldnt have made any Northmen give his land up to a Ironborn. To put it simple Theon was in a lose lose situation. I think thats the tragic part with Theon, his whole life is basically unfair with him going from one lose lose situation to the next - A Ghost in Winterfell
