So. Things I liked about the new star wars teaser from a super drunk perspective to keep it honest. I love the focus on new characters. This isnt fan service. I saw no recurring characters to convince me to go see it. Everything I saw included my love of the universe without tricking me in to seeing Luke and Han and Chewiew. The dirty gritty atmosphere reminds me of the dark lo-fi universe that sparked my interest when I was a tiny child. The lack of a huge Disney logo is huge because they seem to respect the property enough to let it stand on its own without beating me in the face with their ownership. And Ill make jokes about the new cross-saber design, but Im really only comfortable with that because Im a true 2000s emo kid, I think it looks super badass, Ive been waiting for someone to beat out Darth mauls dual lightsaber. And I can even argue in favor of it considering a sith lords paranoia about having his hand amputated in battle. Also, I guess the lightsaber is something of a weapon of legend to these people, so designing it after an antiquated broadsword makes sense to me. I just remember seeing previews for episodes 1-3 with my father who I respect immensely for his own love of sci-fi and the encouragement I got in following my own fantasy interests. I dont know if this new trilogy can completely bring back those feelings of excitement and wonder that I had watching episode 3 a half dozen times in theater, but I know that any time I crack a sarcastic comment about whats to come, its only because Im searching for something I had a long time ago. In a galaxy far far away. Also, if I dont get at least a little nod towards my favorite character in the entire extended universe (Boba Fett) Ill be able to forgive and forget. May the force be with you all. On an unrelated note, did anyone else own a copy of star wars, Epic Duels, the greatest board game in the history of board games? My copy will forever rest with my former Canadian family (Justin Gingras). Gnight.
