So…This Ice Bucket Challenge is going on and I hate it. Celebrities challenging each other to do a ridiculous challenge that helps no one. Yes we now have awareness for ALS. Don’t get me wrong: Every disease needs attention and it doesn’t matter how many of our population got it. BUT. But a disease shouldn’t be the attention of celebrities, but humanity. It reminds me of the storm that destroyed part of the Philippines. In Holland we had this charity on TV going on. You could call in and maybe speak to a celebrity to donate money. Nothing wrong with that as it seems, but people literally refused to donate money if they didn’t got a celebrity on the receiving end. The same with this challenge… Celebrities don’t have to donate if they do the challenge. I don’t care if you give money to a charity, but don’t use a disease for your own marketing. This is why I think the Ice Bucket Challenge of Charlie Sheen was honest. Yes he probably used it as marketing, but also send a message.
