So Vindsval, the mastermind behind the great Blut Aus Nord - TopicsExpress

So Vindsval, the mastermind behind the great Blut Aus Nord released an album this past October. The title of which is Memoria Vetusa III: Saturnian Poetry; it is the final piece of the Memoria Vetusa trilogy of albums. A trilogy that started back in 1996 with the release of MV I: Fathers of the Icy Age. So eighteen years have passed since then and Vindsval took BAN from a classic second wave black metal act into avant-garde and industrial territories. While the subsequent albums were interesting and even somewhat groundbreaking, they could never match his debut nor the follow-up that started the Memoria trilogy. This album is a remarkable showcase of the traditional second-wave sound. It is quite atmospheric, often invoking memories of the classic Emperor album In the Nightside Eclipse. Which is also remembered due to Kristian “Necrolord” Wåhlin having done both cover images. If you enjoy black metal, or want to listen to something totally new and satisfying, this album will leave you mesmerized. Heres hoping ole Vind follows this up in a few years with something as equally traditional and pure. \m/ \m/
