So Why this fascination with pre-school education? Lets face it, our leaders big worry is all those hard working kids from china, walking 10 miles to school, revising for 8 hours a night and getting up 2 hours later to walk to school again. Driven to the brink of suicide by their pushy parents, desparate to improve their lot in a harsh and unforgiving environment. How do we compete with that? Now you can juggle exam statistics and upgrade the education system all you like, but there is no way we are ever going to be able to compete with that sort of work ethic, unless we are starving in a totalitarian state. The GOOD news, of course, is that when those chinese kids are leading happy middle class existances, they wont be forcing THEIR kids to endure the crap they went through at the hands of their (not to put to fine a point on it) fanatical parents. And things will kind of even out again. The kidsll be playing xbox and telling their folks to f off just like ours do :) Until then, of course, expect regular panics and hysterical knee-jerk crap from those charged with ru(i)ning the education system in this country.
