So You are planning to submit a visa application, great. But there is a slight confusion on what to submit to support your applications right? Every day we get emails and phone calls from clients asking about what documents to submit or not submit for the visa applications. Below is a guide on what could be included in your visa application depending on various circumstances and no matter the country be it UK, USA, China, South Africa, Canada, Ireland, which ever country it is, this guide below should help you put together a successful application. These documents are important because they provide information about your personal circumstances in Nigeria. A Valid Passport: Without a valid passport or appropriate travel document on which your visa can be issued, you can’t leave the shores of the country. Ensure that your passport is valid for a minimum of 6 months prior to the time you are applying for the visa. PaySlips: If you are an employee, you should provide payslips that clearly has your company logo or letter head on it. If your salary is paid into your bank account, then make sure to print out the bank statement showing that your company pays into that account. And consider printing statements of a minimum of six months or at least up to one year. Ensure the statements bears your name, has the bank logo and all contact details on the statement are functional. Bank Reference Letter: Some people tell you this is not necessary. But that’s hogwash! How can the embassy prove that you have not gone to oluwole to print the bank statements?? Whenever you print a bank statement to support your visa application, always request that the bank gives you a reference letter. That letter will always state your full name, your address, the date you began a banking relationship with that bank, it will state that you have operated the account satisfactorily and it will contain the names and contact details of the bank officials should the Embassy need to contact the bank to verify the account. Special Visitor Documents: Some countries allow visa application for a category of people they call special visitors, if you fall into this category you need to submit evidence of the engagements or activities you plan to engage in when you are in that country. Many of these countries who allow visa application for special visitors require that you must have a formal invitation from the institution, organization or authorized body and this body must be responsible for payments for your services in that country if you are going to render a service. The documents listed above are by no means exhaustive, in fact depending on the type of visa you are applying for there are various other documents you need to submit with your application, if you are applying for a student visa, what you will submit will be different from what some one applying for a resident visa will submit.
