So. You may have noticed that the repeated arguments about how Summer is really the temporarily restrained Executive Director, how the board is illegally constituted, that Margy is illicitly elected, that KPFA is hiding money, that Margy is out to sell WBAI to MSNBC, that Dan Siegal is working with the giant space bunnies from beyond the orbit of Jupiter, all this has subsided. Now we are hearing about how reprogramming the morning slot is really a decision best made on the sidewalk, and how the community that is entitled to make that decision does or does not include ZRW, and such interesting twiddle. Tomorrow, its show time. The judge will (hopefully)(and probably) rule. And then it will be over, or at least this chapter. Somehow, unless the PD side has deep pockets, and the owner of said pockets is more delusional than the author of the brief, I doubt there will be an appeal. It would be too much to hope for that the DA will get involved, with charges of breaking and entering, vandalism, assault, trespassing, disorderly conduct, fraud, and burglary would be filed, though it would be quite appropriate. But the question of the salary drawn by Summer while in occupation should certainly be an issue. It may take yet more court filings to get her to cough it back up. To be seen. Sadly, I think I can safely predict the following. The unhappy folks who were brought out to growl outside the station will not suddenly find it in their hearts to let democracy take its course, and let the station hire a good manager and go about the business of radio, or that the foundation be able to try to scrabble its way out of crisis. I imagine while the rest bail the good ship Pacifica, TUGOI will continue to drill holes at every opportunity, insist the bailing stop because the buckets are made of plastic and should thus be discarded until management can find some that are more ecologically appropriate, and we will continue to be blessed with bulletins telling us all what to do and explaining how up is down and black is white.
