So a couple of days ago I get a job as a diff breather. A middle-aged female was having trouble breathing x3 days and has a history of lung sarcoidosis, on home O2, prior hospice care and a DNR. We put her on our O2 and she was feeling much better. As my partner and I was bringing her to the ambulance, she goes into arrest. The family wanted us to work her up. Back up was called and with one shock, vaso, D50, and 2 Epi we did get a ROSC. However, the doctors were not hopeful as she was not responding as they would like. The family was so grateful for bringing her back as they did not want her to go suddenly. They did realize her time is near and they would have to let her go. As I checked on her status last night, the staff told me she went back into arrest and the family did let her go by honoring the DNR the hospital has on record. I feel bad for the family, but it was to be expected.
