So a few days ago we lost an incredible woman filled with love and kindness. I met Denise Brown in chorale when we sang the Messiah last year. She would tell us everyday how she heard the angels when we sang and what amazing musicians we were. she would sing with her entirety and you could just see the joy on her face. I have never met anyone so willing to love everyone and everything. I saw her a few time after that choir and she would always tell me to keep going. To keep working with kids and to keep singing because thats who I was. Last night when conducting IDS, I knew she would have loved everything in the concert. My piece, Ballade to the Moon, talks about a man falling in love with the beauty of nature, weeping with joy beneath the moon, and finding joy in his peaceful and mystic night surrounding which fills him with light. I could only see Denise. She would have been in the front row, like always, cheering us on and seeing the angels. It hit me like a wall that she wasnt going to be there when I turned around, and I started to get very emotional. I could feel her love in every note that IDS sang. Thank you for your hard work and love for music IDS (and dealing with my over flow of feels and tears on stage). I know Denise would have loved everything we did and that she would be telling us to never give up. Im going to miss you like crazy Denise and I hope to become more like you everyday. I want to spread love so willing and free like you did. I want to make this earth beautiful with music. I want to be all the things you knew I would be. Thank you for your love and thank you for your kindness. I will always carry it in my heart. m.youtube/watch?v=TbnT2leLv40
