So... a few people have asked whats going on with the sequel to Chaos Theories. Ive started a couple of times, and its a hard one to sequel. Ive got a line on it, and how at least a couple of characters get back together (not the ones people want most, though.) But its not time yet. Dont be discouraged, though. My second book (wip) is not a sequel, but a whole different animal. Its a lot lighter than the last one (as Barbara said, it would almost have to be) and written in the first person. Its called Gravity. The a lot lighter is actually kind of a joke. It begins in New Jersey - actually, a couple of miles off-shore of Cape May where a boat had been on the surface but now ... um ... isnt. Here are a few brief paragraphs from Chapter 4 to show you the tone of the novel (and no, the I Guy is not actually me, though he shares some of my culinary preferences:) ------------------------------- Im not going to say a lot about Atlantic City. Donald Trump has an empire there, I think that says all that really needs to be said. Im also not going to name or say much about the restaurant that Beth suggested. It was a very good Italian place with terrific food, totally incapable of creating the revenue required to support the owners flamboyant lifestyle. Ill leave it at that, so I dont get sued or disappeared. Beth ordered a piece of flounder, a Caesars salad and a glass of white wine. I ordered everything on the menu. I wasnt shy about the cocktail menu, either. To my mind, there are only two things worth drinking. I dont include coffee in that statement – coffee isnt a drink, its the medicine that helps make the day bearable. Like all medicine, the darker, oilier and fouler it is, the more effective. But as far as actually drinking - if you are thirsty you drink beer. If you are at an ethnic restaurant, you drink beer from the same country as the food. Burritos go with Negra Modelo. Vindaloo requires a Kingfisher. Nick Tahoes Garbage Plate screams for a Genny Cream Ale. Tonight, I was drinking Peroni. If, on the other hand, you want to feel like youve been drinking, you order distilled liquor. In a glass. By itself. Without ice. Anything else is counter productive. Jack Daniels was fulfilling that role for this meal. Id normally prefer a single malt scotch, but my tab was going to be high enough as it was.
