So, a few years back while I was applying for a job as a domestic violence counselor, when they ran the FBI background check it came back negative. They said I had had a domestic violence charge against me. I told my potential boss I had never been in trouble in my life. She sent me to be fingerprinted. While I was there I learned that not only did this woman have my name, birthday she was also using my social security number. Things got worked out and I got the job. When I went on to another job an even more extensive background check was done and it came back normal. I figured everything was fine like they told me. Yesterday, I got a letter in the mail from social security asking for some specific health information that did not pertain to my current or past conditions. So, this morning I call ss and explained to them that this did not pertain to me. He pulled up some information on the computer and said well, this does have your name and address on the file. I asked him if he could check the social security number. I gave him my number and he said, its a match. He asked me if I had ever been to a couple of Dr.s in flint. I said no. He asked if I had recently visited the ss office in flint. I said no. The last time I was in a ss office was over a year and a half ago and it was in West Branch. He says, let me investigate. I will email my supervisor, and see what we can do. Call me back in a week and I will tell you what we found. Three hours later, my phone rang, I answered and it was the same man from ss. He wanted to let me know the had found and fixed the problem. That I would have a state trooper contact me to get a statement from me concerning my first problem with the background check. They are going to charge her with identity theft, and ss fraud. I hope this time, it really does get fixed.
