So a friend (who shall remain nameless but she knows who she is) - TopicsExpress

So a friend (who shall remain nameless but she knows who she is) asked if maybe I was calling her out in an earlier post about listing our “10%” and including the nightly glass of wine. Of course I was not, BUT it is something for everyone to be mindful of. Liquid calories, in general, are sneaky in that most are sugary or the body processes them as sugar. This is not only the glass of wine, this is the beer, the cocktails, the sodas, the juice, the sports drinks, the energy drinks, the specialty coffees (400 calories or more in that Pumpkin Spice Latte), the sweet tea (yes I did, I wrote it and someone else will be asking me if I was calling them out). All of these drinks can boast 100 calories or more and while I’m not telling you that you can’t enjoy some of these from time to time, I AM telling you that it could be hindering your weight loss. But don’t let me catch you reaching for the artificially sweetened (translate: chemical) options (another call-out)…studies show that artificial sweeteners alter metabolism and increase your cravings for sugar. Plus they are linked to metabolic syndrome, chronic kidney disease and type 2 diabetes. Quite simply, I want you to be healthy, happy and fit. Just calling some things to your attention that can help you on that journey!
