So a moment of silence please, for my Sukkah roof. It tried to - TopicsExpress

So a moment of silence please, for my Sukkah roof. It tried to commit suicide at 4:15 this morning. I was sharply awakened by an extremely loud *BOOM!* as I slept in the tent inside our Sukkah. I shouted, my six year daughter started crying, and I fumbled quickly to get my glasses. I looked out to see that a large puddle of water had formed in the tarp roof, despite my best efforts to prop up the low points with sticks. This weight was too much to bear and the poor little roof couldnt take it. It ripped the cable that was holding the peak clean out of the house (which was a two and a half inch lag screw!) as well another corner that was attached to the house with boards. It also caused a two foot tear in the tarp itself. The loud noise was cause by God only knows how many gallons of water slamming onto the deck all at once when it gave way. So, I got to spend 20 minutes or so, in the rain, in the dark, in my PJs, with bare feet, climbing ladders, clutching and dropping my drill, fumbling for screws and little boards, as well as maybe a few four letter words, trying to put the roof back together. I think I did pretty well, its all back up and no further puddling or suicide attempts.
