So a one Shannon Bartlett has thrown me out there to try and decide on 10 BOOKS that have had an impact and stayed with me. 1. To Kill a Mocking Bird by Harper Lee: I have always loved this book! Love the black and white movie too. 2. Sacred Hearts by Sarah Dunant: Loved the perseverance of the women in this story for the time it was written. Based in Italy when women could only be educated or practice male dominated medicine if in a convent setting. So much more to the story than that though. 3. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society: Set during the German occupation of Guernsey Island WWll 4. Ishmael:An adventure of the Mind and Spirit by Daniel Quinn: This book took me outside some of my self imposed limited thinking! 5. Deschooling Society by Ivan Illich: Another read that drew me again outside the status quo thought process 6.And the Skylark Sings With Me by David H. Albert: One of the first books I dove into when we began our home educating journey. Oxford graduate David H. Albert write about education with a passion that spoke to me. 7. Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield: This title is well known by now. It was one of the first I had ever picked up in this subject. 8. The Prophet by Khalil Gibran : Beautifully written. 9. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho : I enjoy anything written by this author. 10. The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot: An eye opener about the history of medical research practices and patient/doctor rights. I challenge anyone to give this a go. There are so many more I could put into this list.I love literature and supporting anything regarding literacy for our society. ! To all my cronies that LOVE BOOKS, I challenge you to put 10 that have had an impact and have stayed with you through out the years. :) xo
