So, a year ago today is when I lost my best friend, my mentor, my hero and most of all, my father. It doesnt feel like a year ago, it feels like yesterday I was told that nightmare. It has changed me. The last time I saw him was the day I left for basic training in September of 2013. Maybe thats why its taken so long for me to get over it. I cant name a time where Im sitting in my room without thinking of you. Who knows, maybe its just the circumstances of what happened that haunts me. You were probably one of the strongest of men that Ive had the honor to call my father. You taught me everything, you taught me how to shoot a rifle and pistol, which made it that much easier in the army to earn my expert marksmen badges, but most off all you taught me how to be a man and take shit from no one. You were my inspiration to go join the military and you havent steered me wrong, I love every minute of what I do every day. I know youre looking over your family. All I ask of you is to protect Joseph and I if we are ever sent to fight our countries battles. I love you dad and may you rest in peace.
