So after being tagged on the ALS ice bucket challenge by Tim Lawler (via Trish Lawler), I deeply pondered which of the options is best (bagging the 24 hour rule). After consulting a few people I came to my personal conclusion that the Facebook feeds of people getting doused have reached critical mass, and the tradeoff of awareness vs funding has tipped such that it is time in the lifecycle of this to get it funded and get it cured. Tim himself cautioned against writing a check directly to ALS, as not 100% goes to research. So I googled who is actually doing the research, and found that my sister-in-law Crystals school of Johns Hopkins is one of the leaders in research. And that is where the donation went. Challenge accepted, thoroughly thought through, and acted upon!
